TopsoilCalc is a free collection of practical calculators for homeowners, gardeners, landscapers and material suppliers. The goal is simple: turn project measurements into a useful purchase estimate without requiring an account.
What the Tools Calculate
The main calculator converts an area's shape and soil depth into cubic feet, cubic yards, cubic meters, bags and an approximate weight. Separate tools cover raised beds, coverage from a known volume, delivered cost and volume-to-weight estimates.
Calculations use standard geometric volume formulas and documented unit conversions. Where soil density matters, the page states the assumed density and links to the underlying reference. Results are rounded for planning, while the unrounded value is retained during the calculation.
Not a final order guarantee
Uneven ground, compaction, moisture, product density and supplier policies can change the delivered amount.
No sign-up required
The calculators run directly in the browser and do not require an account, project profile or saved measurements.
Supplier confirmation matters
Confirm final quantities, load weight, delivery access, product suitability and price with the selected supplier.
Editorial and Commercial Principles
- Calculations come first. A commercial relationship must not change the formula or make an estimate look more certain than it is.
- Assumptions stay visible. Density, settling allowance, price and bag size are shown or editable when they affect the result.
- Sources are linked where they matter. Reference-dependent claims, such as dry soil bulk density, point to the source used.
- Paid relationships will be labeled. If advertising, affiliate links or sponsored supplier placements are added later, they will be clearly identified and disclosed.
- Free access remains the core model. The consumer calculators are intended to remain available without a subscription or paywall.
Current status: TopsoilCalc does not currently run display advertising or publish paid supplier rankings. Product and supplier links are included only when they help explain the planning task.
